Coaching Program
Pacific Rim Multisport coaches each work with a limited number of athletes of all levels to ensure we are able to offer the highest level of service to our athletes. Paramount to this is communication between the coach and athlete which, is not only unlimited, but actively encouraged. Our coaching is not a scheduling service and instead we focus on establishing a "mentor" relationship with the athlete ensuring we have a complete understanding of the athlete.
We believe that a key component of this model is understanding the individual nature of the athlete. We do not use "cookie cutter" programs but rather design unique programs to cater for the individual needs of the athlete, both within the sport and outside of the sport.
Prior to starting with one of our coaches, we expect the athlete to thoroughly interview the coach and will invest a substantial amount of time with the potential athlete to ensure there is a clear understanding of coaching philosophies, goals and expectations. The major driver behind our coaching philosphy is developing a program that caters directly to the unique, individual requirements of the athlete and applying these at the applicable volume over a consistent period of time with the athlete.
Upon starting with us, our coaches will work with the athlete to establish a variety of goals and plans to meet those goals. Through simple testing we will define workout intensity levels through use of Heart Rate Zones, Power Zones (optional for the bike) and Perceived Exertion.
Schedules are published weekly on the Workoutlog of Pacific Rim Multisport for all disciplines. Detailed explanations inclusive of duration, terrain, intensity zones (Heart Rate, RPE and Power) and objectives are included in the daily schedule. Athletes log their workouts with coaches providing feedback and adjusting the weekly schedule during the course of the week as necessary. Key workouts are discussed both prior to and on completion of the workout and regular testing forms a key component of our program.
As we invest a substantial amount of time up front ensuring we match the correct athlete and coach we pride ourselves in developing long term athlete / coach relationships. There is no start up fee, no minimum commitment and you pay for the time you are training.
Pricing: $200 for the first month then $165 per month there after, payable on the 1st of the month. There is an optional add on for use of the Rest Wise Application (www.restwise.com) of $10 per month for a total of $175 per month. Inclusive of the first months fee is Pacifc Rim Multisport running hat, socks, waterbottles (2) and swim cap.
For athletes wanting to pay quarterly in advance we are able to offer a 2.5% discount on the quarterly fee or for a six month period 5%. In addition we offer discounted full season bundles inclusive of coaching, lactate testing, bike fitting and camps. The first bundle is geared towards the Oliver Half Ironman while the second is geared towards Ironman Canada.
